Processing Time
Orders are picked and packed at our Montana facility within 1–3 business days of payment clearing. Orders placed on weekends or federal holidays begin processing the next business day. Large orders and orders flagged for manual review may take an additional day.
You will receive a confirmation email when the order is placed and a second email with tracking when the carrier scans the package.
Rates
- Free ground shipping on orders of $150 or more, after any discount is applied.
- Below that threshold, a flat ground rate is calculated and shown in your cart before you pay — there are no hazmat surcharges added after checkout.
- Sales tax is calculated from your shipping state at checkout.
- We do not offer expedited or air service. See below.
How Ammunition Ships
Loaded ammunition is classified as Class 1.4S / ORM-D consumer commodity. That classification determines everything about how it moves:
- Ground service only. Ammunition cannot legally travel by air, so there is no overnight, two-day, or express option at any price.
- Adult signature required. The carrier will not leave ammunition on a porch — someone of legal age must sign for it.
- Shipped in plain, unmarked outer boxes with the hazard markings the carrier requires. There is no exterior branding indicating contents.
- Heavy orders may be split across multiple boxes or ship on separate days, at no extra cost to you. Each package is tracked separately.
Where We Ship
We ship ammunition to street addresses in the continental United States (lower 48), except the states and cities listed below. We cannot ship to PO boxes, freight forwarders, or the following:
- Washington, D.C. — the District prohibits the sale of ammunition and projectiles to residents.
- Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and other U.S. territories.
- APO / FPO / DPO military addresses.
- International destinations.

|---|---|

| CaliforniaNot shipped | California requires ammunition to be delivered through a licensed dealer, or to a buyer holding a Collector’s FFL and a Certificate of Eligibility. We do not ship to California. |
| ConnecticutNot shipped | Connecticut requires a state-issued ammunition certificate or permit and prohibits drop-shipped ammunition. We do not ship to Connecticut. |
| HawaiiNot shipped | Ammunition may not travel by air and there is no ground carrier route to Hawaii. |
| IllinoisNot shipped | Illinois requires a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card for every ammunition purchase, and the City of Chicago prohibits delivery outright. We do not ship to Illinois. |
| MassachusettsNot shipped | Massachusetts requires a Firearms Identification card and state-issued ID for ammunition shipments. We do not ship to Massachusetts. |
| New JerseyNot shipped | New Jersey requires a Firearms Purchaser Identification Card and state-issued ID and prohibits drop-shipped ammunition. We do not ship to New Jersey. |
| New YorkNot shipped | New York requires ammunition to be delivered to a licensed dealer for an in-person background check. We do not ship to New York. |
| Rhode IslandNot shipped | Rhode Island requires a license and a pistol/revolver safety certificate to purchase ammunition, and buyers must be 21. We do not ship to Rhode Island. |
| Annapolis, MarylandCity not shipped | The City of Annapolis prohibits the sale of ammunition to its residents. We do not ship to Annapolis addresses. The rest of Maryland is served normally. |
Every other state receives ammunition from us under the federal rules described on this page. These restrictions apply to ammunition only — apparel and other non-ammunition items ship to every U.S. state with no age or destination limits.
How We Enforce This
Compliance is built into the order flow rather than left to the buyer’s honor:
- Age verification. Visitors must confirm they are at least 18years old before they can browse or buy, and placing an order is the buyer’s certification that they meet the age requirement for the items ordered (21 for handgun ammunition), are not a prohibited person, and may lawfully receive ammunition at the delivery address.
- Destination screening. States we do not serve cannot be selected at checkout, and the shipping state and city are checked again by our server before payment. The check runs a third time when staff fulfill the order, so a restriction added after an order was placed still stops it from shipping.
- Adult signature on delivery.Every package ships with the carrier’s adult-signature service, so ammunition is never left unattended and is only released to an adult.
- Manual review. Orders with address or card verification mismatches, unusual quantities, or any other irregularity are reviewed by staff before shipment and may be cancelled and refunded.
- In-person sales. Ammunition sold at our facility is released only after staff check government-issued photo ID against the age requirement.
You are responsible for knowing and following the ammunition laws that apply where you live. Placing an order is your representation that you may lawfully receive and possess the ammunition at the delivery address. If you are unsure whether we can deliver to you, email support@redmondordnance.com before ordering.
Age Requirements
Federal law (18 U.S.C. § 922(b)(1) and 27 C.F.R. § 478.99(b)) requires you to be at least 21 years old to purchase handgun ammunition and at least 18 years old to purchase rifle or shotgun ammunition. Because many calibers are chambered in both handguns and long guns, we treat everything except our Rifle and Shotgun categories as handgun ammunition for age purposes. States that set a higher age are among those we do not ship to. By ordering you certify that you meet the applicable age requirement, that you are not prohibited from possessing ammunition under federal or state law, and that you are not purchasing on behalf of anyone who is.
We reserve the right to request proof of age or eligibility, and to cancel and refund any order we cannot verify.
Tracking, Delays & Delivery Problems
- Tracking is emailed when the carrier picks up the package. Ground transit is typically 2–7 business days depending on distance from Montana.
- Weather, carrier backlogs, and hazmat handling can add time. Once a package is in the carrier network, transit time is outside our control.
- Report visible damage, a short count, or the wrong item within 2 business days of delivery, with photos of the outer box, packing slip, and contents. We replace or refund and file the carrier claim ourselves.
- If tracking shows delivered and the package is not there, contact the carrier first, then email us within 7 days so we can open a trace.
Refused & Undeliverable Packages
Packages refused at delivery, or returned because the address was wrong or nobody of legal age was available to sign, come back to our facility. We refund the product price once the ammunition is received and inspected; the original outbound shipping and the return freight are deducted from the refund. Double-check your address before you submit the order — we cannot reroute a hazmat shipment in transit.
For returns you initiate, see the Return Policy.
